This Portuguese fortress dates to 1576 and crowns a hill above the bay, today housing the Museu das Forças Armadas with cannons, tilework and military history exhibits. Beyond the displays, its ramparts offer some of the best panoramic views over Luanda Bay and the island. It is one of the oldest and most atmospheric historic sites in the city.
